The Republican primary for North Carolina’s open U.S. Senate seat is getting “nasty” following a report from the Washington Post revealing Congressman Ted Budd’s family’s past involvement with a company that cost farmers millions. The story “sparked a brutal response” from the GOP field of candidates who are “not holding back.”
- Former Congressman Mark Walker said the story “confirms the Budd record: follow big money and you’ll always find Ted Budd.”
- Former Governor Pat McCrory, who has previously attacked Rep. Budd for being “no friend to farmers,” accused him of being a “DC insider” and called on him to “tell the truth about his direct involvement in fraud, lawsuits, bankruptcies, and farmers losing millions.”
- Meanwhile, Congressman Budd was quick to hit back, chalking it up to “the fact that Trump endorsed me” and called former Congressman Walker’s campaign “desperate.”
