Yesterday, Minority Leader McConnell said that “one hundred percent of my focus is on stopping this new administration.” That includes opposing the American Rescue Plan, which provided stimulus checks up to $1,400 to 89 percent of North Carolina adults. NCDP spokeswoman Kate Frauenfelder released the following statement in response: 

“Minority Leader McConnell admitted what we already know — Senate Republicans are standing in the way of President Biden and Democrats getting our country back on track every step of the way, including providing needed economic relief for North Carolinians. North Carolina Republican Senate candidates Congressman Ted Budd, Pat McCrory, and Mark Walker have all come out against the American Rescue Plan, even as it is widely supported by Americans — do they stand with McConnell in backing this toxic agenda?”
