As DC insider Michael Whatley misleads North Carolinians on his public safety record, here’s a reminder that he championed budget cuts to law enforcement.

At a recent event, Whatley said law enforcement needs “more funding” and “more grants.” But Whatley failed to mention that he championed Elon Musk’s DOGE cuts that slashed hundreds of millions in public safety funding, including grants, and left “law enforcement agencies […] scrambling.”  

Whatley called these cuts “vital” and “fundamental” and even fundraised off of them. 

As Whatley lies about his record on public safety, the truth is simple: Whatley elevated a convicted child sex predator, supports mass pardons that put predators back on the streets, and championed cuts to public safety.
