Helene: Two Years Later, Good News, Historic Low
Here’s what we’re covering this week!👇
Helene: Two Years Later
Two years ago, Hurricane Helene tore through Western North Carolina and turned lives upside down. Two years later, families are still waiting on the federal relief we desperately need.
Donald and his failed “recovery czar” Michael Whatley have made it clear where North Carolina falls on their list of priorities. Donald floated withholding funding if Whatley lost his Senate race as Whatley stood beside him, smiling every step of the way. Michael Whatley has done absolutely nothing to help the people of North Carolina. A recent report shows that after nearly two years Whatley spent 38 minutes on the phone with the state’s lead recovery official discussing Helene recovery efforts. That’s it. 38 minutes.
That’s shorter than an episode of Grey’s Anatomy. It’s shorter than the first half of a soccer game. It’s shorter than your lunch break.
Meanwhile, our neighbors are still rebuilding their homes, their businesses, and their lives. They’re still hurting, and they won’t be forgotten by us. Democrats will keep showing up for Western NC until the job is done.
Good News:
Y’all, Democrats are out here getting it done. Across North Carolina, our elected leaders are showing up every single day, doing the work, and delivering for the people they serve.
The difference between the two parties has never been clearer. Republicans are dodging accountability and clinging to power to keep their big donors happy, while Democrats are fighting for you.
This week, we’re hitting the timeline to celebrate the hard work, the determination, and the good news Democrats are delivering for North Carolina. We can’t wait to share even more when we elect Democrats up and down the ballot this November!
Got good news in your community? We wanna hear it. Email us at digital@ncdp.org.
Historic Lows:
While Americans are begging for lower costs, the only thing Donald can lower is his approval rating.
A new Wall Street Journal poll shows his approval has fallen to 37%, a historic low for any president heading into a midterm election. Americans, especially North Carolinians, are sick of the way things are being run. But let’s be clear: Donald didn’t work alone. Nearly every Republican in power, including those in our own state legislature, has praised him and modeled their policies after his. This is the party of failures.
As we approach the final stretch of this election cycle, don’t let Republicans jump ship now. They all deserve to be held accountable, and it’s up to us to deliver it.
That’s a wrap for this week’s messaging!
Now it’s your turn! Download the graphics below, copy our captions, and get the message out! Whether you’re lighting up the group chat or sharing it on your timeline, your voice is what actually moves the needle!
See y’all on the internet!
