Coast to Coast, West Fest, The Dem Ballot

Here’s what we’re covering this week!👇

Coast to Coast

Hey yall! Believe me when I tell you our state is raising the bar.  If you don’t believe us, just check out this latest report hitting the national airways, letting everyone know the North Carolina Democrats are the party to watch!

In a new episode of the Commonwealth Club of California —one of the nation’s longest-running public affairs programs- former Wisconsin Democratic Party Chair Ben Wikler and actor turned activist Bradley Whitford identified North Carolina as the new blueprint for Democratic success.

The episode reached an audience of more than 86,000 listeners across key California markets including KABC (Los Angeles), KMJ (Fresno), KGO (San Francisco) on Sunday, and Omaha Public Radio.

The conversation featured a deep dive into the North Carolina Democratic Party’s (NCDP) organizing strategy.  Wikler and Whitford explored how the North Carolina Democratic Party is successfully building a permanent, year round success model that other states should follow, and highlighted the party’s leadership, “They have this incredible new chair, Anderson Clayton…and she has been working in the rural areas of the state and with youth organizing everywhere in that state. They’ve been winning state legislative races, they’ve been winning down-ballot races like nobody’s business,” said Wikler.

Wikler also emphasized the need to follow NCDP’s strategy and shift the focus from individual election cycles to long-term planning.  They argued that by recruiting local organizers and focusing down ballet, Democrats can replicate the multi-decade, local first strategy that has historically been used in the GOP playbook.  “Think of it again, not as one election. Think about actually building infrastructure that can lift up every candidate and allow you to fight harder in every race and a part of your community and civic life,” said Wikler.

He encourages more people to focus on local races and replicate what is happening in our state. “A group of friends can take over a county party, they can recruit, get people involved. You can run for chair, and then you can turn it into an organizing factory. You can start getting involved in flipping city councils and flipping majorities in local boards that might right now be, you know, targeted by a local special interest, and they’re not doing very much. You can change that, you can change that in the state,” he said.

The Dem Ballot

Y’all, we are less than 70 days away from a high stakes election, one that hands us the power to flip a US Senate seat, protect our courts, and grow our Democratic majorities right here in North Carolina.

The country is counting on us to send Roy Cooper to Washington. Our neighbors are counting on us to re-elect Justice Anita Earls and keep the NC Supreme Court fighting for a fairer state. And folks across North Carolina are counting on us to hold the Court of Appeals, laying the groundwork to finally restore fair maps when we take back our courts in 2028.

The stakes are high, but our drive is higher. Lock in, share this week’s content, and let’s go make North Carolina proud, and a little more blue.

That’s a wrap for this week’s messaging!

Now it’s your turn! Download the graphics below, copy our captions, and get the message out! Whether you’re lighting up the group chat or sharing it on your timeline, your voice is what actually moves the needle!

See y’all on the internet!
