President Biden and Democrats have demonstrated sound leadership in tackling the COVID-19 pandemic and rebuilding the economy, but Republican Senate candidates, “whose future could put them in a position to do something about the issue,” are prioritizing their own political interests over ensuring our economy continues rebounding and avoiding another economically-devastating lockdown.
- Despite support in the business community for President Biden’s vaccination push, Congressman Ted Budd said that it’s “extreme government overreach of private businesses.”
- Former Governor Pat McCrory likened the plan to bullying businesses, even though many companies were already moving towards vaccine requirements, supporting our economic recovery.
- Former Congressman Mark Walker fumed that “hardworking Americans are not going to stand idly by,” and accept Biden’s effort to boost vaccinations, but recent polling from Fox News and Monmouth shows that the majority of Americans support it.
“Republican Senate candidates’ reckless political calculations are at odds with common-sense measures to support economic recovery and move us further along the path out of the pandemic,” said NCDP spokesperson Kate Frauenfelder. “North Carolina small businesses, schools, and communities cannot afford their policies that would undercut our ability to end the pandemic and grow the economy.”
