This Fourth of July, thanks to the leadership of President Biden, Governor Cooper and Democrats, and no thanks to a single North Carolina Republican, our state is coming back
Just today, the first two winners of Governor Cooper’s vaccination lottery were announced
Last Fourth of July, North Carolinians were separated from one another, living in fear as the coronavirus pandemic surged across our state and country. The road to full recovery is long, but President Biden and Democrats’ American Rescue Plan and the President’s and Governor Cooper’s leadership have successfully gotten the pandemic under control and put North Carolina’s economy back on track to rebuild from the bottom up and the middle out.
While North Carolina is bouncing back thanks to President Biden, Governor Cooper and Democrats’ leadership, the entire North Carolina Republican delegation voted against legislation to help our state get back on track from the pandemic.
Just five months into office, President Biden has delivered historic progress for North Carolina families. When Biden took office, America was seeing over 185,000 new COVID-19 cases per day. Now, it’s less than 13,500. When President Biden took office, an average of over 3,000 Americans were dying from COVID-19 per day. Now, that average is less than 300.
Governor Roy Cooper also recently announced a $4 million Summer Cash and College Tuition lottery, which will award $1 million prizes for four North Carolinians and $125,000 scholarships for four North Carolina students aged 12-17, to encourage and thank people across the state for getting vaccinated. A mother and teacher from Winston-Salem, Shelly Wyramon, won the first $1 million prize today. A freshman at Ashley High School this fall, Vania Martinez, won the first “Cash for College” prize of $125,000 today.
“Let’s be clear––North Carolina is coming back this summer and not a single Republican in our state can take credit for it. President Biden, Governor Cooper and Democrats’ leadership are fully responsible for getting shots in arms and helping North Carolina’s economy bounce back. The American Rescue Plan was passed thanks to President Biden and Democrats’ in Congress, and Governor Cooper’s vaccination lottery is leading our state back to recovery––no ifs, ands, or buts,” said NCDP Spokesperson Ellie Dougherty.
