New reporting from MeidasTouch News is spotlighting DC insider Michael Whatley’s ties to his endorser Peter Giunta, one of the Young Republican leaders exposed for their racist and antisemitic group chat. Whatley has yet to condemn Giunta’s rhetoric or denounce his support.

In the newly discovered tweet from June of this year, Giunta posted about his partnership with Whatley on the New Jersey governor race.

Giunta was “the most prominent voice in the chat spreading racist messages” and said he loved Hitler, referenced sending people to gas chambers, referred to Black people as “monkeys” and “watermelon people,” and supported slavery.

Giunta supported Whatley as RNC Chairman, congratulating him on his re-election as Chair and praising him for “transform[ing]” the RNC.

“For weeks, Michael Whatley has refused to condemn his endorser Peter Giunta’s despicable rhetoric,” said Mallory Payne, senior communications advisor for the North Carolina Democratic Party. “Every day that Whatley stays silent about the hateful beliefs of his backers is another day he’s proving to North Carolinians he can’t be counted on to stand up for what is right. North Carolinians will reject his spinelessness next November.”
