As Budd Fundraises In Atlantic Beach, 5 Ways He Has Voted Against Their Interests

As Ted Budd travels the state hosting private fundraisers instead of meeting with voters, we’re continuing to highlight the ways in which he’s failed communities across the Tar Heel State – today in Atlantic Beach, North Carolina.

As Budd fundraises in Atlantic Beach today, take a look at five ways he’s voted against their best interests:

  • Congressman Budd voted against a ban on offshore drilling along the North Carolina coast, even as coastal mayors in North Carolina and the business community called on Washington to pass the ban to protect coastal communities. A week after that vote, Budd accepted $2,000 from Marathon Petroleum’s PAC.
  • By voting against the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, Budd put politics over supporting investments to coastal resilience in the face of intensifying extreme weather along the coast.
  • As climate change worsens, storms like Hurricane Florence will continue to damage Atlantic Beach and raise costs for residents. The Inflation Reduction Act is the most significant investment in combating climate change, but Budd voted against it.
  • Last month, Carteret County received funding to expand access to high-speed internet through American Rescue Plan investments in broadband grant programs, despite Budd’s opposition to the legislation.
  • No thanks to Ted Budd, Atlantic Beach received hundreds of thousands of dollars in relief funding from the American Rescue Plan to address local government shortfalls due to the pandemic and invest in future projects.
