Unity, BLUEWAVE, We Have A Budget (Yes, Really)
Here’s what we’re covering this week!👇
Unity Dinner
The NC Dems annual Unity Dinner is coming up on August 1st! This year, you’ll hear from our keynote speaker Senator Elizabeth Warren, Democratic Senate candidate Roy Cooper, Governor Josh Stein, and more! This is our largest event of the year and a celebration of our shared values. Your attendance will help fuel our efforts to elect Democratic leaders who will fight for equality, justice and opportunity for all North Carolinians. Together, we can make a real difference in our communities and shape the future of our state.
Let’s unite, celebrate and move forward together. See you at the Unity Dinner! We are fortunate to sell out every year, so buy your tickets ahead of time at ncdp.org/unity!
We Have A Budget (Yes, Really)
On Tuesday, Governor Stein was finally able to sign into effect a comprehensive budget. After more than 1,000 days without a real budget, state agencies, school districts, and local governments no longer need to look to a band-aid to plan their expenditures and services.
The budget is far from perfect but it takes positive steps in the right direction. Because of the efforts of Democrats in the General Assembly and our Governor, teachers and law enforcement officers are finally getting the raises they deserve, Medicaid is fully funded, and western North Carolina is getting more of the investment they need to rebuild.
Going forward, it’s critical that we elect leaders that will push to make sure future budgets prioritize the needs of working people. We must reverse cuts to state employees and target tax cuts that make life more affordable for working families instead of doubling down on giveaways to massive corporations and their shareholders. And we must properly fund behavioral and mental healthcare. We’ve got a lot of work to do to make sure that this year we elect leaders who will champion those priorities.
Filing for Office
We need YOU to run for office! Filing for municipal office is officially open in 23 counties across the state. Check your county’s Board of Elections to see if there are municipal elections this year in your community. Candidate filing ends at noon on Friday, July 17, 2026. For more information on filing to run for office, click here. Share this information and our graphic with your network to spread the word. Politics doesn’t get better until better people get involved in politics.
Officer Report
Our Summer SEC meeting in June said it all. Our elected officers took the stage, gave their reports, and by the time they were done talking, everybody in that room and everybody watching was fired up. Because here’s the truth: y’all are putting in the work! We are mobilizing. We are knocking doors. We are picking up the phone and talking to every single North Carolinian who will give us five minutes.
Here’s what our team and our incredible volunteers have pulled off so far compared to this time in 2024:
- 2.57x more doors knocked than 2024
- 2.45x more phone calls than 2024
And it’s only June, y’all.
We cannot thank you enough for the time, the sweat, and the heart you’re pouring into bringing home a blue wave this November. The work we do today will be rewarded when voters we talk to step into that ballot box.
Want in? Head to ncdp.org/volunteer and let’s keep this going.
That’s a wrap for this week’s messaging!

See y’all on the internet!

Democrats pushed hard to make sure teachers and law enforcement get the raises they deserve, Medicaid is fully funded, and Western North Carolina gets the investment it needs to rebuild.
