Leandroâs Promise, Justice on the Ballot, America The Broken + More

Our Digital Messages This Week đ
Leandroâs Promise đ°
Year after year, Republican lawmakers have failed to pass a state budget that actually invests in our kids. This year? Surprise, surprise â they still havenât got their shit together. The NC GOP are leaving our state â and most importantly, our kids â scraping by while patting themselves on the back. Thatâs why we are dedicated to using the month of September to bring awareness to Leandro, because investing in our stateâs future should be the easiest choice any lawmaker could make. A âsound basic educationâ should be the floor, not the ceiling.
This year alone, kids are being sent home because their schools donât have working heat in the winter or air conditioning in the hotter months. This isnât some problem âover thereâ â itâs happening in the wealthiest counties and the poorest. Across North Carolina, schools simply donât have enough money to meet their mission.
Leandro funding can change that. Leandro is a plan designed to make sure every school has the resources it needs. The NC Supreme Court had approved a remedial plan back in November 2022, but a Republican-led court has now reheard the case and â in classic Republican fashion â made a partisan decision to block it. Once again, putting their political agenda above our kidsâ future.
In just ONE school, Leandro funding could provide:
- 20 more teaching assistants
- 31 more school support staff
- More than double the funding for teaching materials
- Professional development for teachers we already have
- 51 more preschool slots
- 209 more children in infant-toddler programs
- 362% increase in Smart Start programs
All that extra support isnât just numbers on a page â itâs teachers with the tools they need to help every child succeed. Itâs toddlers getting a real start in life. Itâs kids prepared to take on the world with confidence, not falling behind because Republicans couldnât do their damn jobs.
Leandro is a promise â a promise to the future of this state and a promise Republicans have been spectacularly failing to keep for years.
Justice On The Ballot âïž
Yâall, weâve seen what happens when our courts get stacked against us. Theyâve greenlit attacks on voting rights, rubber-stamped power grabs, and put politics over people again and again. Just look at whatâs already happened: extremist judges blocked $677 million from reaching our public schools. They went after our only Black Supreme Court Justice, Anita Earls â while letting Justice Phil Berger Jr. rule on cases involving his own father, the Senate leader. Our courts should deliver justice, not corruption. Thatâs why the 2026 judicial elections are such a big deal. Theyâre our chance to finally change course.
These three seats are the foundation for taking back the courts in 2028. Without them, the attacks keep coming. With them, we open the door to real change â fair voting maps, fair elections, and courts that actually protect your voice instead of silencing it.
Justice is on the ballot â and so are these Democrats:
- Justice Anita Earls â 30+ years fighting for civil rights, voting rights, and fairness in schools and workplaces. From founding the Southern Coalition for Social Justice to shaping policy at UNC and the DOJ, sheâs never stopped standing up for us.
- Judge Toby Hampson â a product of NC public schools whoâs spent his career making sure the law actually works for everyone. Since 2018, heâs been on the Court of Appeals, serving with fairness and mentoring future leaders.
- Judge John Arrowood â someone whoâs lived real challenges and turned them into a lifetime of service. From Superior Court to the Court of Appeals, heâs fought to keep our courts strong, fair, and rooted in community.
This isnât just about winning elections. Itâs about protecting our democracy, holding the line now, and setting the stage to restore justice to our courts in 2028.
 Three seats. One future. âš
America The Broken đșđž
More than six months into his second term, Donald Trumpâs promise to end wars abroad remains completely unfulfilled. Shocker. Instead of delivering peace, heâs fueling a dangerous obsession with control â from rebranding the Department of Defense as the âDepartment of Warâ to tightening his grip on our freedoms here at home.
Even in his own words, Trump hinted that if America were at war at the end of his second term, he could consider canceling elections. Yet another warning straight from the authoritarian playbook. From deploying militarized forces in D.C. to floating threats in Chicago, Trumpâs actions arenât about protecting Americans. Theyâre about consolidating his power.
While he feeds his strongman fantasy, the people who actually served this country are paying the price. Veterans are seeing benefits cut, care stripped away, and promises tossed aside â all while Trump calls on the military to do his bidding.
America is supposed to be the land of the free âbut under Trump, freedoms are shrinking, power is the priority, and real Americans suffer the consequences.
Thatâs a wrap for this weekâs messaging!
