America 250, Rural Healthcare Crisis, Summer SEC

Here’s what we’re covering this week!👇

America 250

This year, as we celebrate 250 years of America, we’re reminded that the values we hold as NC Democrats are the same principles on which our nation was founded: equality, opportunity, and the chance for folks to build a better life. As we celebrate, we look at where we’ve been, where we still fall short, and what it takes to build the country our founding promises actually described. This is the fight we all share. This is the work NC Democrats will always show up for. Happy Birthday, America!

ICYMI: Summer SEC & State Convention

This past weekend, we held our State Convention and Summer SEC Meeting in Fayetteville, where hundreds gathered to engage in the work of the party which included establishing a platform, passing resolutions and fellowship among all Democrats. This gathering exemplifies the strength of our democracy and the power of collective action and unity.

Together, we celebrated recent victories that highlight our commitment to progress, including initiatives aimed at expanding access to education, protecting voting rights, and building a more equitable economy for all North Carolinians. We’ve also included a graphic below to celebrate Cameron Pruette being elected as First Vice Chair of the NCDP! Cameron is replacing Jonah Garson, who was recently appointed to represent district 23 in the North Carolina Senate.

Rural Healthcare Crisis

As we reflect on our progress, we cannot ignore the urgent challenges that lie ahead. North Carolina is currently one of many states facing a healthcare crisis. New data released by Protect Our Care found that more than 1,000 hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, maternity wards, and other healthcare facilities across the country have closed, are at risk of closing, or have been forced to cut services, creating a growing healthcare crisis in communities throughout America.

When a hospital or clinic shuts its doors in North Carolina, folks don’t magically stop getting sick—they just find themselves with even fewer options. With Republicans slashing healthcare, over 10 of our hospitals and 5 clinics are now on the chopping block. This puts North Carolinians in a tight spot and puts lifesaving care out of reach. As Republicans keep their relentless assault on healthcare, every day gets tougher for working families across our state.

But rest assured, Democrats are rolling up our sleeves to fight back and working to lower costs, expand access to healthcare, and make life more affordable for every family in North Carolina.

That’s a wrap for this week’s messaging!

Now it’s your turn! Download the graphics below, copy our captions, and get the message out! Whether you’re lighting up the group chat or sharing it on your timeline, your voice is what actually moves the needle!

See y’all on the internet!
