Today, the North Carolina Democratic Party is launching a new website, The Whatley Files, to highlight how DC insider Michael Whatley has a record of elevating people who engaged in predatory behavior, from convicted child sex predator Harvey West to Mark Robinson to Jeffrey Epstein.
“DC insider Michael Whatley has spent his career elevating and protecting predators, including convicted child sex offender Harvey West,” said Mallory Payne, senior communications advisor for the North Carolina Democratic Party. “It’s disgusting, and North Carolinians deserve to know that Whatley will never protect us from abuse and corruption at the hands of those in power.”
Whatley repeatedly appointed convicted child sex offender Harvey West to NCGOP leadership roles, despite knowing about West’s criminal past. Harvey West has confirmed that Whatley knew he had served six years in prison for sexually abusing three minors and appointed him to state party leadership anyway.
Since the news came to light more than a month ago, Whatley has repeatedly refused to respond to reporter questions and sidestepped a question when he was asked about it directly.
Additionally, as NCGOP Chair, Whatley elevated Mark Robinson and has been criticized for his rise to power. And as RNC Chair, Whatley was complicit in the cover up of the Epstein files.
