Raleigh – Washington Republicans launched an all-out assault on North Carolinians’ health care yesterday and rather than stand up for North Carolina, Senator Tillis wilted.
A new filing from the Trump Administration asked the court system to throw out the entire Affordable Care Act and with it, basic consumer protections like coverage for preexisting conditions, better maternity care, and allowing kids to stay on their parents’ plan until age 26.
When asked, Tillis refused to speak out against the lawsuit. North Carolinians already know they can’t trust him to follow through on what he says.
As one mother, who said without the Affordable Care Act’s protections families would lose their homes trying to pay for treatment, told WCCB, “it feels like our government doesn’t care about us or our children.”
“People are worried about losing their health care or going bankrupt trying to pay for treatments, yet Thom Tillis refuses to stand up for North Carolinians, even when their health is on the line,” NCDP spokesman Robert Howard said. “Senator Tillis again shows he’s spineless on the issues that matter most, and that North Carolina can’t trust him to follow through on his word.”
