QUICK CLIPS: NCDP Chair on NC-09: Bishop & Republicans “Are Running Scared”

Raleigh – North Carolina Democratic Party Wayne Goodwin joined MSNBC and CNN this morning to spotlight how Republicans “are running scared” in NC-09 and to hammer home that Dan McCready has the momentum in the final stretch.

On MSNBC, Goodwin outlined the difference between the two campaigns: “[Trump] is focusing it all on himself while Dan McCready, the Democratic nominee, has continued to focus on issues that bring people together instead of tearing them apart.”

On CNN, Goodwin called out Republicans false attacks: “[Trump is] using buzz words to call into question the faith of Dan McCready… to call into question the patriotism of a Marine in this race. Nobody else in this race has fought and served overseas other than Dan McCready.”

In the final days, Democarts are capturing the momentum: “Clearly President Trump and Republicans are in panic mode. They know that this district that the President won by 12 points in 2016 is a neck-and-neck race. Folks are ready to send a message to Washington and this White House.”

Key Points:

  • “I am very encouraged with turnout, very encouraged by the passion of voters turning out. Clearly President Trump and Republicans are in panic mode. They know that this district that the President won by 12 points in 2016 is a neck-and-neck race and I’ll tell you, folks are ready to send a message to Washington and this White House.”
  • “I’m from the Ninth Congressional District and I’ll tell you, it is a microcosm for the entire state… President Trump’s divisive rhetoric is not resonating in the way he hopes it will be.”
  • “[Trump] is focusing it all on himself while Dan McCready, the Democratic nominee, has continued to focus on issues that bring people together instead of tearing them apart.
  • “Dan McCready has talked about what he will do in Congress to help lower prescription drug costs and help have more affordable health care. Meantime, Trump and Bishop and the Republicans are focusing on Trump.”

Key Points:

  • “We want to move on from the divisiveness that a Trump-Bishop campaign has brought to North Carolina…”
  • “Our Democratic nominee, Dan McCready, a Marine, has the momentum and I think the message is we are ready to move North Carolina forward.”
  • “What I’ll tell you once again, President Trump is lying. He’s using divisive rhetoric.”
  • “He’s calling a capitalist, Dan McCready, who is a clean energy entrepreneur who’s brought 700 jobs to North Carolina a socialist. He’s using buzz words to call into question the faith of Dan McCready… to call into question the patriotism of a Marine in this race. Nobody else in this race has fought and served overseas other than Dan McCready.”
  • “If Dan Bishop says a vote for him is a vote for Donald Trump, we don’t need that type of rhetoric reflecting the Ninth Congressional district.”
