RALEIGH – Today, North Carolina Democratic Party Chair Wayne Goodwin and President of the North Carolina Association of Teen Democrats Bennett Stillerman celebrated those fighting for common sense gun safety reforms on National Walk Out Day.
“I am inspired by the strength and courage of the young people across the state who walked out of school today to make their voices heard in the fight against gun violence,” NCDP Chair Wayne Goodwin said. “Democrats across the state are proud to stand beside these students and we applaud Governor Cooper for today putting forward common sense gun safety reforms that will save lives.”
President of NC Teen Dems President Bennett Stillerman added, “I am proud of my peers in North Carolina and across the country for uniting to tell the generations above us that we are tired of fearing for our lives each day at school. As students, we should be spending the school day worried about completing classwork on time, not whether we’re going to make it home at the end of the day. Lawmakers in Raleigh and in D.C. can’t ignore this issue any longer – it’s time to pass meaningful reforms or say goodbye to their seats.”
