NCDP Statement on Dan Bishop Investment in ‘Online Hub for Racists’

Raleigh – NCDP Executive Director Kimberly Reynolds released the following statement regarding Dan Bishop’s investment in hate-speech fueled social media platform Gab, which was first reported by the Daily Mail:

“No modern politician in North Carolina has done more to promote hate and discrimination than Dan Bishop. From funding a hate-speech fueled social media platform riddled with anti-Semitic and white nationalist content to legislating discrimination, Bishop continues to embarrass our state. Senator Bishop must disavow the hateful rhetoric promoted by Gab and divest from the platform immediately. Any silence goes to show that he shares these abhorrent views.”

Gab is known as the “freewheeling social media platform that has become an online hub for racists, anti-Semites and white nationalists,” (Washington Post, 10/31/18)

Bishop is known as the “Leader of House Bill 2” which legalized discrimination against LGBTQ North Carolinians. HEADLINE: “Rep. Dan Bishop: Leader of House Bill 2” (Charlotte Observer,4/2/16)
