NCDP Statement on Board of Elections Ruling

North Carolina Democratic Party Chair Wayne Goodwin released the following statement after the North Carolina Supreme Court ruled that “the parties have no duty to take action” and “may not proceed in any manner to make any appointments” to the State Board of Elections while the Court considers the pending lawsuit against Republicans attempts to manipulate the State Board of Elections and Ethics to their benefit:

“Today’s ruling is an encouraging step to protecting the sanctity of our elections. Republicans attempted to rig the Board of Elections because they know their policies are out of touch with North Carolina and they understand the only way to send even more far-right politicians to Raleigh is to suppress the vote, undermine our electoral system and rig the ballot box. We are encouraged that the North Carolina Supreme Court is addressing this abuse of power and trust they will do the right thing and protect our elections from further Republican attacks.”
