Medicaid May: Support Piles Up For Expansion, Still Crickets From Dan Forest
RALEIGH – Tomorrow is the last day of May, and over the course of the month, support has piled up for Medicaid expansion. It’s not surprising. Expansion would benefit over half a million North Carolinians. Meanwhile, Dan Forest has remained silent.
Throughout the month of May, and as budget negotiations ramp up, newspapers across the state have highlighted the fight for Medicaid expansion, including the News & Observer, Greensboro News & Record editorial board, WRAL, State Port Pilot, WSOC-TV, WTVD-TV, Fayetteville Observer and their editorial board, Winston-Salem Journal, NC Health News, BlueRidgeNow.com, and more.
Here’s a look back at the diverse groups and people from every corner of this state – and on both sides of the aisle – who have recently thrown their support behind Medicaid expansion:
- Not Dan Forest
- North Carolina Business Council
- Conservatives
- Early childhood educators
- Physicians
- CEOs
- Rural hospital executives
- Alamance County Sheriff Terry Johnson
- The Majority Of North Carolinians
This WTVD headline notes, “Governor Cooper continues to push for Medicaid expansion.” So where does Dan Forest stand?
