Raleigh – Yesterday, news broke that NCGOP chairman Robin Hayes was indicted for trying to bribe an elected official and for lying repeatedly to the FBI. The indictments happened on March 18 yet were unsealed Tuesday.
Curiously, one day before, Thom Tillis had this to say about Chairman Hayes in an NCGOP press release:
“Robin Hayes has been one of the most successful NCGOP chairs ever, leading Republican victories in North Carolina for the last two presidential elections and playing an instrumental role in bringing the Republican National Convention to Charlotte in 2020,” said U.S. Senator Thom Tillis. “The NCGOP has never been stronger thanks to Robin’s dedicated leadership over the last decade, and Susan and I are grateful for his outstanding service to the Party.”
Tillis’ heaping, effusive praise of Hayes begs the question: Does Thom Tillis stand by his statement and by now-indicted NC GOP chairman Robin Hayes?
