Today, the North Carolina Democratic Party released a new digital ad spotlighting Senator Tillis’ comments applauding the administration while nurses, doctors, and hospitals continue to ask the federal government for more personal protective equipment (PPE). The new ad is part of the party’s ongoing statewide digital buy targeting independent voters.
Senator Tillis has repeatedly praised the administration’s handling of the coronavirus, saying the President “has taken every step he can” and “demonstrated decisive action.” Meanwhile, North Carolina officials and medical workers have continued to call on the federal government to provide the supplies front-line workers need to combat the pandemic. Yesterday, the NC Nurses Association said that the level of PPE is “still dangerously low.”
The ad focuses on how Senator Tillis has failed to stand up for North Carolina medical workers, including his refusal to question why the administration shipped 18 tons of PPE and other medical supplies to China.
Earlier this month, NCDP launched an ad highlighting Senator Tillis’ past objections to public health regulations that require restaurant employees to wash their hands after using the bathroom, a position that is out of step with North Carolinians and dangerous given the current health crisis.
