Supreme Court
Chief Justice Sarah Parker (incumbent)
Chief Justice Sarah Parker, a native of Charlotte, earned her undergraduate and her law degrees at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She served as an attorney in private practice for 15 years before being appointed to the N.C. Court of Appeals in 1984. She served on the Court of Appeals until 1993 when she joined the N.C. Supreme Court. Read more.

Justice Patricia Timmons-Goodson, a native of Fayetteville, attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, earning an undergraduate degree in speech in 1976 and a law degree in 1979. She worked as a prosecutor and as a private attorney in Fayetteville until she was named a District Court judge in 1984. In 1997, she was appointed by Gov. Jim Hunt to the North Carolina Court of Appeals. She retired from that court in late 2005. In February 2006, she became the first African American woman to sit on the state Supreme Court. Read more.

Judge Robin Hudson has been serving on the Court of Appeals since she was elected in 2000, as the first woman elected to the North Carolina appellate courts without having been appointed first. Before that, she practiced law for about 25 years, handling civil, criminal and domestic cases, as well as many workers' compensation cases and hundreds of appeals. She graduated from Yale in 1973 and UNC-Chapel Hill School of Law in 1976. Read more.

Judge Robert C. "Bob" Hunter (incumbent)
Judge Robert C. "Bob" Hunter, a native of Marion, earned a degree in political science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1966 and a Juris Doctorate in 1969. Hunter worked as a county attorney in McDowell County, North Carolina. He also represented the county in the North Carolina House of Representatives from 1980 to 1998. In 1998, Hunter was appointed by Gov. Jim Hunt to the state Court of Appeals, and he was elected to an eight-year term on the court that same year. Read more.

Judge Linda Stephens, a native of Woodruff, South Carolina, attended the University of South Carolina and law school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and earned her JD in 1979. She was Deputy Commissioner for the North Carolina Industrial Commission, hearing and deciding workers' compensation cases from 1980-1984. In 1984, Stephens joined Teague Campbell Dennis & Gorham, LLP as the firm's first woman associate. She later became the first female Partner (later Senior Partner) with the firm. From 2001-2002, Stephens served as the first woman President of the North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys. She was appointed to the North Carolina Court of Appeals in 2006. Read more.

We have some excellent Democratic Judges on the ballot this year. Here's what they need from you. First, they need your vote. Second, they need you to talk to your neighbors and friends, spreading the word. Third, they need you to volunteer your time and talents.
