Where is Elizabeth Dole when it comes to the Middle Class?

Elizabeth Dole fails when it comes to representing middle class North Carolinians in the U.S. Senate.

Dole received an “F” in a national report card released Wednesday that evaluates federal legislators on how well they represent the needs and interests of the middle class in Congress. In fact, the middle class position prevailed just four out of 10 times in the Senate.

This is the third year Dole received a failing grade.

The report card comes on the heels of a recent Power Rankings poll that found that only seven of the 100 senators are less influential than Dole, a legislator formerly touted as a “political rock star”.

Dole’s votes against expanding health care for children and helping families who are facing foreclosure while voting to grant retroactive immunity to companies that illegally spied on citizens, earned her a 50 percent grade from the Drum Major Institute, a non-partisan group that issued the report card.

“When voters elected Elizabeth Dole, they thought they were getting an influential senator who would protect and advance North Carolina’s interests,” said NCDP Chair Jerry Meek. “Instead, they got an ineffective legislator who voted against middle class families at every turn and cared more about marching in lockstep with the Bush Administration than serving the needs of her constituents.”

I am a middle class blue collar worker

Hello,
I am a blue collar middle class REPUBLICAN who believes Dole is supporting middle class values. NOT NC democrats and NAtional democrats who keep calling me rich (Miller) and keep raising my taxes through temporay tax increases and allowing Bush's tax cuts to expire.
It takes guts to make the tough decisions that will not burden middle and working class people.
Quit the name calling and double standards. To many democrats are being indicted, convicted or plaim just stealing from NC citizens. Your preamble and what the state legislature are at opposites, they call it hypocrisy. You do not represent NC citizens, you just want the power to redistribute the wealth of people who earn it. It would take guts to print this and let your member read it. let us see what your fortitude is.

OK, first off you must be a

OK, first off you must be a "Home Schooler" from your punctuation and spelling. That aside, Senator Dole, who only is a North Carolinian by the barest margin of standards (she owns a home in Salisbury that she visits once a year) has been voted the most ineffectual Senator in the US Senate for the last 3 years running.

Mr. Terrell, if in fact you are a Blue Collar Republican, name 1 piece of legislation Senator Dole has sponsored (or co-sponsored) that directly affected you quality of life?

I know you can't do it because she hasn't. Time for her to go.

Voting against things isn't sufficient grounds for saying someone is an effective legislator. You may believe she supports your values, but by what action on her part?

Rhetoric is just all hot air. Words without deeds are hollow at best and disingenuous at worst.
