State Auditor Beth Wood Honored by CPA Association
State Auditor Beth Wood has been honored by the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants as the Outstanding Member in Government for the past year. The award, presented at the association’s annual business meeting in Greensboro Wednesday night, recognizes a member employed by a federal, state or local government agency for distinguished service and making significant contributions to the field of governmental accounting. "Everyone appreciates getting recognition for the work they do, but it means a lot when that recognition comes from your peers," Wood said. Wood was elected as State Auditor in 2008 and took office in January 2009. Prior to her election she was the training director for the Office of the State Auditor and had served on the staff of the Local Government Commission. She also worked for the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and with a private CPA firm. The N.C. Association of CPAs has more than 13,000 members statewide. Founded in 1919, the association promotes the competence, integrity and civic responsibility of CPAs.
