GUILFORD COUNTY
All Democrats are invited to enjoy a live band, good food, and great fellowship at the Guilford Democratic Women's Christmas Party at the home of Senator Don and Mayor Pro Tem Nancy Vaughan in Greensboro. The event will be celebrated from 6PM to 9PM on December 3rd. Everyone is encouraged to bring canned goods for the Greensboro Urban Ministry. Over 200 attended this gala last year.
NEW HANOVER COUNTY

Democrats will bring items for a Cheer Basket for longtime Democratic leader Reese Smith who is not feeling well.
CURRITUCK COUNTY
Judge Linda McGee of the North Carolina Court Of Appeals was the featured speaker at the November 16th meeting of the Currituck County Democratic Party at the Judicial Center. Former County Chair Becky Howard reports that Judge McGee spoke about her 16 years on the state's second highest court and about her upcoming reelection campaign.
COLLEGE DEMOCRATS
College Dems President Eliza Hernandez and Congressman Brad Miller are looking forward to greeting Democrats of all ages at the College Dems' Holiday Reception at 6:30PM on December 9th at the Emerald Event Center in Greensboro. FIFTH CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT
The loud cheers you hear from the northwestern part of the state are from people who are happy that Virginia Fox has a strong challenger. Wilkes County First Vice Chair Matt Ledford says the campaign of Democrat Treva Johnson is going full swing with a Finance Director, Campaign Manager, and lots of volunteers in action.
ROBESON COUNTY
Robeson County Party Chair John McNeil was reelected to his second term as Mayor of Red Springs after serving 34 years as a member of the Town Board. That means he is starting his 39th consecutive year in elective office - and he is still a young man.
Former County Party Chair Ray Pennington was reelected to his third term as Mayor of Lumberton. For over 20 years Ray was the Director of Athletics at UNC-Pembroke.
WATAUGA COUNTY
The County Party, the Democratic Women, the Young Democrats and the ASU College Demcrats will be joining together at 2PM, December 10th for a big Holiday Party at the LaQuinta Inn in Boone. They will enjoy a Groaning Board of foods and will have lots of music and Door Prizes.
MECKLENBURG COUNTY
Several Mecklenburg auxilaries are joining together to sponsor a "Coalition Christmas Party" at 6:30PM on December 5th at Cuzcallan Restaurant in Charlotte.
BRUNSWICK COUNTY
At their December 5th meeting the Brunswick Democratic Women will kick off a drive to raise money with Pizza Cards. The money will be used to fund a scholarship at each of the county's three high schools. Former Seventh Congressional District Chair Ouida Hewett will present a "Seasonal Reading and Song" program. The members will enjoy Christmas finger foods at their meeting at the Brunswick Party Headquarters in Bolivia.
TRANSYLVANIA COUNTY
County Treasurer Ken Chepenik, Nick Bayne, and John Gardner are hosting a "Dinner For Donors" at the Glenn Cannon Country Club in Pisgah Forest on December 14th. County Chair Norm Bossert says Nick Bayne will give the Keynote Address in which he will talk about 2012 opportunities for Transylvania Democrats and will motivate them to make generous donations. Nick is a well known Democratic businessman with a wide variety of business activities in western NC and internationally.
THIRTEENTH CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT
Thirteenth Congressional District Chair Jesse Goslen reports that the District Executive Committee met November 19th at the Alamance County Headquarters in Burlington to make plans for 2012 and discuss the effect of redistricting.
Xena Eriksen suggested that counties without a headquarters could set up a Google Voice account and get a phone number that could ring on up to 4 phones. The number is permanent and free. She pointed out this would be a great way for small counties to have a phone number that moves from one County Chair to the next. It also has voice mail.
REVA MCNAIR'S RAINBOW CAKE
Reva McNair of Fayetteville was President of the NC Senior Dems from 2006 to 2010. However, she is famous as the lady who makes Rainbow Cakes. When fixing a pound cake, she divides the batter into five different bowls. She uses food coloring to make the batter for each layer a different color including red, green, purple, yellow and blue. When the cake is cut, each slice displays a variety of rainbow colors. Every time her grandchildren come over they ask: "Grandmama, do you have Rainbow Cake today?"
GASTON COUNTY
The Gaston Democratic Party and Gaston Democratic Women set up an Angel Tree at Rhyne School. They brought the gifts to their November 28th meeting at the City Club in Gastonia and they are looking forward to seeing wide smiles on the school children's faces when they open the gifts. Congratulations to the Gaston Democratic Santa Clauses!
FORSYTH COUNTY
Forsyth Senior Dems are buying Christmas gifts for approximately 75 nursing home residents. Matilda Phillips, First Vice Chair of the NC Senior Dems, says they have enjoyed selecting the gifts and are looking forward to presenting them just before Christmas. Forsyth Senior Dems President Dan Bennett invites everyone to a Christmas Breakfast at the Piedmont Club at 9AM on December 7th. Forsyth Democratic Women are staging a Red, Green and Gold Holiday Celebration at 6:30PM, December 8th at the Delta Fine Arts Center in Winston Salem. Members will be wearing red, green and gold clothing and bringing foods that are red, green and gold. The African American Caucus of Forsyth County will hold their annual Christmas Party at 3PM, December 3rd at the NAACP Enrichment Center in Winston Salem. Members will be bringing lots of delicious food to share with each other.
