U.S. Representative Mike McIntyre, a senior member of the Armed Services Committee, has just returned from Afghanistan, Africa, and Europe where he met with military commanders and several heads of state to discuss matters of national security and to express thanks to U.S. troops serving abroad.
“With so many of our troops being away from home during this holiday season, it is important to show them our appreciation for their sacrifice and service,” McIntyre stated after visiting troops from all branches of the nation’s armed forces in Afghanistan and Southwest Asia.
In Afghanistan, McIntyre met with General Dan McNeill to discuss progress being made to suppress the Taliban. McNeill, a former commander at Ft. Bragg and a native of Duplin County, is serving as the Commander of the International Security Assistance Forces for NATO in Afghanistan.
McIntyre also met with the Presidents of Mauritana, Ghana, Burkina Faso, and Burundi, as well as the Prime Minister of Ethiopia to discuss their role in the Global War on Terrorism and their cooperation with the new U.S. African Command.
In Europe, McIntyre met with the President of the Czech Republic and with government officials in Poland.
McIntyre, who is the second-highest ranking member of the Subcommittee on Terrorism, stated upon his return to Washington, “Terrorists can attack anywhere, any time. It is critically important that we strengthen our international relationships. This trip enhanced our efforts to promote peace and security on behalf of both America and our allies worldwide.”
McIntyre was part of a bi-partisan, six-member delegation representing the U.S. Congress overseas.

Proud to Call Mike McIntyre My Congressman
Mike McIntyre is one of our Nation's finest Congressmen. He has proven time and time again that he is an independent thinker who represents the people of North Carolina's Seventh Congressional District well. It is, in fact, refreshing for me to see an elected official who will stand up for what he believes regardless of partisan politics.
The people of southeastern North Carolina continue to elect Mike McIntyre because he leads from the heart - and he and his staff work hard for the people of our district.
Mike McIntyre is Pro-Life
Mike McIntyre is one of the finest examples of a public servant. Oftentimes you hear elected office holders referred to "like all politicians." Congressman McIntyre proves them wrong. He wins reelection with large majorities and has maintained a record of high standing. He is also pro-life and proves that being pro-life is not a detriment to the Democratic Party. I look forward to the day when abortion language will be taken off of our party platform as a litmus test and all Democrats will be accorded equal status.

On the contrary, Mike
On the contrary, Mike McIntyre is among the worst examples of a public servant where it matters the most. He has consistently joined the cowardly Republican minority in the House who support Bush's war in Iraq based on a pack of lies. He is not pro-life since he would place the potential life of a fetus above the life of a breathing human being. Where were all of you so-called "pro-lifers" during the Vietnam War? Your voices weren't heard in protest until after the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision. Shame on you!
thanks for the comment Eva
