The North Carolina Democratic Party echoes the call from U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-California, for a moment of silence to remember the victims in the Virginia Tech shooting.
A lone gunman and possibly 32 people are dead on Monday during shootings in a dorm and a classroom at Virginia Tech. The event is being called the deadliest school attack in our country's history.
"It is not only a tragedy for students, faculty and administrators at this institution, but also a tragedy for the academic community nationwide," said Laura De Castro, president of the NC Federation of College Democrats. "Our deepest and most sincere condolences go out to everyone. I call on all college students to take a moment of silence to remember the students and their families."
