Senator Richard Burr’s Taking North Carolina For Granted

Burr Not Holding Public Events, Has Not Accepted Debates

RALEIGH, N.C. – Poll after poll shows that North Carolinians are rapidly losing faith in U.S. Senator Richard Burr, but he’s still taking them for granted.

Burr rarely holds public events, depriving North Carolinians of an opportunity to speak to their Senator about the issues that matter to them, and he openly admitted to the Wall Street Journal that he doesn’t plan on campaigning seriously until the three weeks before Election Day.

Burr still has not accepted a single debate invitation, and just last week indicated he may not debate at all.

“The one thing worse than Senator Burr’s record is him taking North Carolina voters for granted,” said Matt Kravitz, Press Secretary for the North Carolina Democratic Party. “Senator Burr got to Congress and cashed in, and now is counting on the people he left behind to send him back. It’s not going to work this time, with Deborah Ross crisscrossing the state talking about the issues affecting hardworking North Carolinians. Now voters know they have a real champion and will vote to send her to the U.S. Senate.”

The North Carolina Democratic Party (NCDP) is the North Carolina affiliate of the Democratic Party. NCDP works to elect Democratic public officials, encourages North Carolinians to become involved in Democratic politics, and fights for equality, opportunity and prosperity for all North Carolinians.
